DE-LAY.

Sat Nov 21, 2009, 11:32 PM
yeah i'm damned lazy when it comes to this shit, though considering i wrote down everything from new york in an actual physical journal.. i wasn't in a rush to try and get all of my memories into some concrete form.
so me and chels :icontrackseventeen: went to NYC (i'm linking her DA cuz i havn't put any pics up yet and she has), we spend 23hrs on a bus (11hrs there, 12 back) to spend 18hrs in and around Times Square. we boarded the 9:30pm bus from Toronto and traveled until we reached New York City around 8:30pm saturday morning. we couldn't check into our hotel until 12ish at the earliest so we got a lovely cafe breakfast (pancakes and bacon(for me)), and proceeded to wander our way around Broadway so that we could find our way to the venue. on the way we went into the giant 9 1/2 floor Macys, Chels got some shoes and i..spent most of the time being appauled by how expensive shit was lol. we finally made our way to the theatre and saw the line (unsurprisingly) already extended around the corner of the building so we headed to check in. the hotel we stayed at was an old building, so it was very horror movie-esq and old looking, little sketchy but clean and comfy enough for the maybe 5hrs total we spent there. we dried off a bit (as it had been misting lightly), watched some animal planet and got ready for the concert. we left around 3 after doing hair and some makeup (i had makeup on from like 2 days prior anyways), annnd we got back to time square just in time to get POURED on. it started raining like crazy! so we went and hurriedly bought umbrellas so we wouldn't die, we were already pretty drenched but it could get worse and we still had 3hrs or so in line. once we hit the theater the downpour ended, we got some pizza and then got in line (which had extended around to the third side of the building at that point). we waited in line, eventually temporarily befriending two people about our age from New Jersey. we talked of things Canadian and American, jobs and school.. and snuggies (which coincidentally we found the box to one on the way inside). we got in, me and chels lost our Jersey friends and proceeded to by merch, t-shirts and hoodies.. very expensive, much more then in Canada..but i had assumed as much and had no issues with handing over $95. after that, as usually happens, the concert turns into a very happy blur...thankfully i have quite a bit of video footage from this one (yes, it only took me 3 Diru concerts to learn to bring a camera regardless), they preformed amazingly as usual, everything was spot on (though apparently there were technical difficulties..according to their blog), Kyo sounding fantastic and was very much on tune, i was happy to see he had gotten his hair partially cut .. and his shirt was off 4 or so songs into the set. i can't help it, and i wont deny my pervishness, he's hot, he danced (enthusiastically), and his voice is gorgeous. the inclusion of Amber, Kodou and Ugly was AMAZING, i had never heard Amber or Ugly played in real life (Kodou i have because I went to family values tour in 2006 and THINK they played it there.. either that or i tricked myself into thinking i had because of all the concert dvds i have), the crowed came to life especially with Kodou, not that they weren't rowdy throughout the show. I defiantly loved Toguro being played, thats my favorite song off of Uroboros and i literally had to remind myself to breathe when it started. after the concert we were so amped up we forgoed calling a cab (our original plan, as it was 10:30), and just walked, skipped and ran back to times square where it was so crowded it didn't matter anyways! we went to TGI Fridays and ate a retardedly expensive meal, complete with MASSIVE $12.75 alcoholic drinks, which made times square that much more sparkely but the next morning just that much worse. morning is a relative term, i was asleep a bit after one, and woke up at 4, as the bus was to leave at 5:40 and we had to be at the station by 4:40ish. i felt absolutly horrid, and crawing back into wet pants, socks and shoes just made it suck that much more. but we walked the two minutes (convient hotel) to the terminal and waited, i got some water and gagged a bit in the bathroom.. other then that i was just freaking happy to get on the bus and pass out till 8am when we stopped in Pensylvania at a burger king. the rest of sunday was spent in and out of sleep, as well as on an uncomfertable bus with irritating french chicks. finally we got home and i got to eat and go to bed.. I'm proud of us for not dying or getting lost or freaking out.. lol and i'm certainly up for it again if Dir en grey plays in NYC and not Toronto again next year.. heck, i'd go back just to check stuff out.. but oh man that bus ride was hellish.. but certainly worth it.
